MV seek a Management Accountant

Who are we looking for?

MV is recruiting a new Management Accountant who will report directly into the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). The postholder will be involved in the end-to-end financial process including all regular finance transactions, from sales, purchases, cash management, reconciliations, VAT; as well as assisting in the preparation of the management accounts, forecasts and supporting management information. The postholder will also assist with payroll and HR related tasks and provide support to the management team as appropriate. Candidates should demonstrate a sound understanding of financial reporting and HR activities and be keen to embrace all elements of the MV culture.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities

Management accounting:

  • Monitor invoicing against sales orders
  • Reviewing purchase invoices against purchase orders
  • Reviewing bank payments
  • Posting journals
  • Balance sheet reconciliations
  • Preparation of Management Accounts
  • Preparation of forecasts
  • Supporting with KPIs and management information reports
  • Reviewing VAT calculations

Product and project accounting:

  • Liaising with operational teams on project progress
  • Helping the project teams understand project and product profitability

Other:

  • Processing payroll and carrying out HR related activities
  • Providing cover for other accounting and ordering functions as required
  • Providing support to the CFO and Senior Management as directed

This is a varied role and a great opportunity to gain experience of running all aspects of a business. Key responsibilities relate to the fundamental financial processes, but the role will also deliver exposure to HR, commercial and legal matters; together with deputising for the CFO when required.

What do we require from the successful candidate?

The ideal candidate will have a close cultural fit to our small friendly team as well as professional competence. This is a varied role and the successful candidate would need to be highly flexible to meet the demands of the business.

Essential requirements

  • Working knowledge of Sage 50 accounts (or a similar application)
  • Qualified AAT / Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA accountant (may be studying, qualified or qualified by experience)
  • Good Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience of audit – could be internal/external and financial or operational
  • Experience of working with professional advisors
  • Accurate, professional, good time management, clear communicator, positive attitude
