Meet Liz Mathew, Lead Software Engineer at MV

With months of remote working behind us, we wanted to introduce you to the people behind the technology solutions that Mutual Vision has been working hard to provide. This week, we sat down with Liz to find out more about her experiences at MV.

So, why did you join MV?

I joined Mutual Vision because I wanted to grow as a software engineer, and because of the company’s respect for employees. It creates a great environment for anyone who, like me, wants to grow professionally.

What do you enjoy about working here?

The thing I love the most is the collaborative environment. Everyone shares the same vision, and is dedicated to bringing about change and improving the products we deliver. Sharing the same dedication creates a family environment where everyone’s there for each other.

We also have a very strong, approachable leadership team who are always providing insights which I’ve always found very helpful.

It’s been almost three years since I joined MV and from the start there’s always been an emphasis on empowering employees with real and challenging tasks.

As mentioned before, having a great team to work with is another fabulous thing here at MV. I joined as a Software Engineer and was given the opportunity to take up the Lead Software Engineer role, which was intimidating in the beginning but I was offered a lot of support and guidance from my mentor and wonderful team.

Any particular favourite projects you’ve worked on? 

I was really pleased to get the opportunity to lead a project which has now gone live to customers. Though it had its challenges, working with the team to get the project rolled out was a great experience. In my experience, MV has always valued the employees and truly recognises the effort you have put into a project which is always a great motivation.

A lot of great improvements have been made in the development and technology department over the last few years. This has been a great learning curve for all of us – what more can tech enthusiasts ask for than to work on new technologies!

How have you been coping with lockdown? Any new hobbies or interests?

Whenever I go for a good long walk in the park with some soothing music on it makes my day – takes my mind off everything and helps me kickstart the rest of the day.

I’ve also recently developed an interest in art and painting and enjoy some decorating at home as well. Being in lockdown is partially the reason for all of these newly developed interests!
