Meet Adam, Senior Delivery Manager at MV

With MV’s Product Development moving at such a pace, the delivery team has expanded to welcome Adam Barnes, Senior Delivery Manager. Adam is responsible for managing the day to day activity of the delivery team as well as implementing best practice processes. 

So, why did you join MV?

Before MV, I spent the previous 14 years as a consultant for large financial institutions delivering the implementation of new technologies to expand their capabilities internally.  When I made the decision to move on from this role, I wanted the opportunity to continue working within financial services whilst growing my skill set within a smaller organisation.  MV ticked these boxes for me (plus so many more) and the major appeal was that all team members are working towards the same common goal.

What are your first impressions?

First impressions have been really positive with everyone being so welcoming and friendly.  We have a very capable team at MV and there is a collective sense of team, all working together for the good of our customers.  When joining the delivery team, I could immediately see their work ethic which makes my job so much more enjoyable and, it’s fair to say, easier! My first focus is to tighten up the delivery process and introduce further governance best practices to the project lifecycle.  Introducing new ways of working can sometimes be difficult, but it’s been great to see the team respond to the challenge in such a positive way.

Any particular projects you are looking forward to?

I am excited for the opportunities cloud can bring to MV.  The initiative I was working on before joining MV was a pathfinder project of moving internal cloud solutions and one of the big draws for joining MV was the opportunity to work on the ProVision Core transformation project.  I am AWS Cloud accredited, so being able to put these skills to use will be extremely fulfilling for me as I can build up my own practical experience for cloud transformation projects.

What keeps you happy outside of work?

As a Dad of two young sons, I am kept pretty busy, and working at a desk all day has made our family realise how much we enjoy exploring the outdoors.  During lockdown, I really saw the importance of keeping ourselves active and the positive influence that can have on our children.

If I do get any time to myself, you’ll probably find me working on our smart home system which I have thoroughly enjoyed building. I am fascinated by anything tech related – which is a good job really considering my job! And I love football…I am a huge fan of the game and its history so if I am not playing in a match at the weekend, you may find me with my nose in a football related book.   In fact, my pride and joy is a vintage shirt collection.
